Learning...

I've been back in school learning my second language... internet code. I love coding, building websites (haven’t exactly gotten that far yet) and I'm earning my nerd cred along the way lol. I’m excited to soon be able to flesh out my ideas to the web and hope to really make an impact on the internet, I really want to make sites that are an adventure and experience yet still be straight to the point, giving you the information you came there for. Starting out with learning the basics with html, css and java, I have high hopes and big dreams that I plan to make come true with determination and a strong focus. I hope to also pick up some tips on how to really flesh out my sketches so they don’t feel so flat, I want my illustration to really pop off the page so I’m studying shadow and lighting along with perspective. I see some great work that inspires me here on D.A. and have made this site my “facebook” :D where else can I received the constructive criticism and inspiration better then here on D.A.

Inspired

I loved the movie Tron as a child so when I saw the sequel opening night I couldn’t wait to get home, download the soundtrack from iTunes and start a new piece of art inspired by Tron Legacy. It’s a horse design with digital flaming hair breaking up into pixels.  I like using the Tron style on different characters that are not in the movies, for example the Archangel in my Tron Angelicon poster. This horse design will have a different type of digital appearance while keeping the Tron feel. In contrast to this digital themed design I have a bird project that I will be working on in the Steampunk style that I am excited about.

The Joy of Creation

I’ve found the joy of simply drawing for myself and learned to once again take my time on my own projects as they’re simply for fun with without a deadline. On my previous deviantART id, brainarddesign, I rushed a lot of my posted work to just fill my gallery which was a big mistake I will not make again on my new deviantART id, http://archangelgraphix.deviantart.com The pure joy of creating something from my own mind and developing it into what I want to share is in my opinion what makes being an artist in any discipline great and satisfying.

Tron: Angelicon

I’ve enjoyed the movie Tron ever since childhood; it’s like the first Matrix. I was inspired when I saw that they had made another Tron movie entitled Legacy and created this movie poster using my angel warrior design. You can view this at my deviant art page

W.I.P. podcast

I just started listening to the podcast entitled W.I.P. found in iTunes, so far I after listening to episode #18 I find the podcast interesting and informative.

DESCRIPTION (copied & pasted from the podcast)
WiP is a podcast for Fantasy illustrators trying to break into the Sci-Fi and Fantasy Illustration world from the perspective of a few artists trying to do that themselves. Jeff & Caroline Himmelman and Pete & Ania Mohrbacher are the hosts of the show, but they have lots of guests on regularly to get the full range of opinions on making it in the art world
